Casa Geretto is a family-run concern; it was founded in the early 1950s by Cav. Antonio Geretto, a man inspired by a passion for wine rather than by purely commercial reasons. From the very beginning, Geretto Antonio Snc, as the company is called, paid the utmost attention to their choice of grapes and wines and became well known for the quality of its products. The company prospered and soon the Veneto winery was able to acquire more vineyards in Friuli, and before long the company was winning prizes in wine tastings in the area.
In 1976 Casa Geretto took over Azienda Agricola Merk located in the Friuli Aquileia DOC area, in order to satisfy the needs of an ever more demanding market.
Since 1999 Dino Geretto has set about reaffirming the traditions of the winery while expanding its market and meeting consumer demand for a quality product. This process has also involved a realignment of the firm’s philosophy and image, through careful selection of the right products and a focus on wines which clearly reflect terroir. This can only happen thanks to continuous experimentation, hands-on control of every stage of the winemaking process from vineyard management to bottling, thus guaranteeing total traceability. All this under the experienced eye of Antonio Geretto, enologist.
Exports account for 35% of production: Merk Casa Geretto wines can be found in the USA, Canada, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Our wines are sold in Italy through a sales network which covers all of the North-east Italy and the rest of the country as far as Rome.
All the efforts of the last decade have been recognised through a number of awards in wine tasting events at national and international level, as well as inclusion in the most prestigious guides and magazines. Casa Geretto has always believed in cultivating links between wine and culture and to this end sponsors and actively supports the arts, from music through painting to theatre.
